My name is Ms. Lyons and I am teaching this writing class. Many students do not realize how important writing can be to not only further their education, but also to advance their career post-graduation. Good writing skills can open doors for jobs and careers that they may not have previously considered. On top of that, with the Common Core initiatives in Tennessee, as well as new writing assessments like PARCC, students will be challenged to achieve at a higher level than in previous years across the curriculum. As educators, we have been given the task of getting students ready for these assessments, as well as making them more comfortable with writing as early as possible. Therefore, this class will be an important one and should help students in every class that they take.
A little bit about me:
A little bit about me:
- I love the internet. I might be an internet junkie!
- I am a Mountain Dew fan. It always peps me up. I also usually start my day off with a big mug of coffee!
- I was an art major in college and teach art classes as well. My concentration was photography, so I still take pictures quite a bit.
- I love concerts and live music. I go to festivals when I can. Pretty much any genre has something I enjoy.
- I could eat pizza three times a day. I never get bored with it.
- I also like peanut butter. I eat it every day!
- I love to travel. I have been to over thirty states in the U.S. and nine countries outside the U.S!
- Part of being an artistic person is having a love for making things pretty. I like to buy things at thrift stores and spruce them up. I have lots of junk at home!
